The Dordt Youth Ministry program brings together reflection and practice. Students spend time in the classroom reflecting upon the various aspects of pastoral care and youth ministry. At the same time students are engaged in practicum and internship opportunities that help student put into practice the theories and ideas discussed in class - helping them form their own approach to youth ministry.
Practicums - As a part of the program students complete 3 Practicums which include:
- partnering with local youth pastors to help lead youth group
- participating and providing leadership for youth camps and retreats
- providing leadership for local churches that do not have a full time youth pastor
Internships - There is an expanding number of internships available to provide extended practical
experience for students in the field of youth ministry:
- Youthfront School of Formation - Kansas City
- Paid part time opportunities to lead local youth groups in churches without a youth pastor
